Why Casual Faith Won’t Carry You Through Midlife
Hook
What happens when the faith that once felt easy no longer holds up under the weight of real life?
Story
At 16, I gave my life to Jesus with tears and genuine fire in my heart. But over the next three decades — through marriage at 23, raising two boys, busyness, disappointments, and deep insecurity — I slowly drifted.
I lived with what I now call “casual faith.” I still believed in God. I prayed when things got hard. I went to church when it was convenient. But my faith stayed shallow. By 2021, during the loneliness of COVID, I felt completely empty. I battled depression, self-doubt, and moments where I didn’t think I was a good enough wife or mother. The lies felt louder than the Truth.
Then, on March 9, 2023, God met me right where I was. I rededicated my life to Christ. Last August, my dear friend Christine and I were baptized together in Lake Erie. Since that day, everything began to change.
Truth
Casual faith may comfort us in easy seasons, but it cannot sustain us through midlife. We need something deeper — a faith built on discipline, truth, and daily surrender. We need to move from surface-level belief to an unshakable walk with Christ.
Practical Application
This is exactly why Christine and I created The Unshakable Truth Journal: 90 Days to Quiet the Enemy.
It is not another fluffy devotional.
This is a structured, Scripture-soaked journey that helps you:
• Read God’s Word daily
• Reflect honestly on your thoughts and struggles
• Replace the enemy’s lies with biblical Truth
• Respond in practical obedience
It gets into the real, nitty-gritty issues we face as midlife women — doubt, inconsistency, identity, insecurity, and spiritual dryness — and walks you through them with God’s Word as the foundation.
CTA
If you’re tired of starting over spiritually and you’re ready to build something deeper and more steady in your walk with Christ, this journal was made for you.

You don’t have to have it all together. You just have to be willing to show up and keep coming back to Truth — one day at a time.
I’d love to walk this journey with you.
